Hello,

First post here, I am hoping to get some advice on taps from Crosswater.

I found the Crosswater taps (click the link to see them) on this website that rate them well but they seem to only sell Crosswater stuff so i would expect them to big them up.

Has anyone had these type of taps before, can you give me your thoughts and advice?

Cheers

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet as I'm running out of time. Was hoping someone had used them before. I will dutifully provide some feedback on them for others if it's of any use.

Hello, I would find out what length of guarantee you get and if your supplier can get spare ceramic disc cartridges for it. As with some other shops own brands like swirl, you will get no support from where you buy these with regards to spares, so you would have to contact the manufacturer.... in China! My advice to you would be to lay out for the extra cost and go for a quality brand such as Aqualisa or Mira, In the long run it will be worth it.

Thanks

I ended up having to get the taps but am pleased with what I have, the taps is nice and heavy and made from solid brass, the old taps that were being replaced just "felt" cheap by comparision (not sure if that makes sense).

On the topic of guarantee it came with 15 years and the sales guy I spoke to told me that the manufacturer is UK based and has a full customer service department that will handle spares and warranty claims.

I guess only time will tell but as it stands I'm very happy with what arrived. The company I got them from also gave me a free brochure, which I don't really need now, but its got some great stuff in and makes me think that Crosswater are pretty well established.

Thanks for your feedback though, I was beginnig to think no-one read these BigGrin

Just to boost your confidence with Crosswater, I have had one of their shower valves for well over 6 years now and it feels as smooth today as it did the day I fitted it. As for spares my son, a curious/destructive toddler, managed to scracth the back plate quite badly, so I called Crosswater and they were very helpful and sent me a spare part. Great service! You'll find the Crosswater shower valve here on the site you mentioned.

I've been installing Crosswater taps and showers for many year, I've just checked to find they were established in 1998 which makes me think I must have installed some of their early shower valves as an apprentice. The old boy I used to work with always recommended them to our customers, as they have great flow rates, so you'd get good flow through the taps or shower even with if you had low water pressure. I see the site 'DaveJT' bought his valve from has a big shower pressure logo, showing the water pressure required (very useful). The first valve I clicked through to was suitable for low pressure down to 0.2 bar (which is very low) and is WRAS approved. Also it works to the new TMV2 standard, which means it reacts twice as fast to a change in temperature to the supply, which typically happens when 'someone' turns on the kitchen tap downstairs (you know who you are dear wife!). The other great thing about Crosswater is the design, they've always seemed to be ahead of the field when it comes to new designs and innovations. So back to 'DaveJT's' original question of would any one recommend them? I have to say yes, with year of experience of installing Crosswater taps and showers, I would recommend them wholeheartedly!
