Here i am facing my 4th winter with hit and miss hot water! Washing Up? Run the cold bath tap to get trickle of hot water in kitchen. Bath? If you've got an hour to spare run the cold tap in the sink to get the hot water trickle iin the bath (what a waste of water-glad not on a meter!) Had gas engineer and various plumbers out to no avail-any advice please?

If you have a combi boiler it could be your heat exchanger is partially blocked, I had this recently myself. Hot water for a few seconds when you first turn the tap on but then cold water there after. The boiler engineer said what is happening is the bolier over heats as the water in the primary circuit can't flow though the heatexchanger fast enough. so you get a burat of hot water then the boiler shuts down until it cools.

    Just an idea

I actually went off and googled "Burat of hot water". I then considered this was a typo, assuming you meant "burst". Regardless of spelling I think Bob is probably onto the right thing here.

Install a solar water heater at home that's fantastic idea to get a warm or hot water in winter season. Today, many companies are manufacturing several types of water heaters that's available at budget friendly price with superb and energy saving water heating features.

you can install solar water heater or wood burning stove. if you want to buy a heater, then choose a water heater that will not only provide enough hot water but also that will do so energy efficiently, as well as cost effective.
