SSE offers eco-conscious DIY tips

SSE offers eco-conscious DIY tipsSimple changes to the way we live can help to save the planet and save us money, explained a Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) spokesperson in recent DIY tips given to The Journal.

Readers are told that Craig Thompson from SSE has a number of DIY tips for how consumers can cut energy bills, including installing solar lights in gardens and sheds, a simple DIY job with no wires to run.

The same applies to ponds, where solar pumps and oxygenators will keep the water looking clean and fresh.

Estimates from the Energy Saving Trust predict that adding loft insulation can save up to £150 per year and is a fairly simple DIY job.

For those living in properties where traditional insulation methods are not possible, then SSE advises that there are products available that can be applied like wallpaper to reduce heat loss and make homes warmer.

Mr Thompson added: "Summer is a good time to schedule a loft or cavity wall insulation job."ADNFCR-2244-ID-19322622-ADNFCR
