More women 'taking to DIY'

More women 'taking to DIY'Women are increasingly taking up DIY, it has been suggested.

In an article for the Daily Mail, Alison Tyler reveals that her bank holiday weekend was spent tackling home improvement tasks such as sanding down bathroom doors and repairing broken handles.

Such moves came as she states that spending weeks asking her partner to do this work were yet to result in the project being done.

Furthermore, she points to research showing women are ten per cent more likely to do DIY since the start of the financial downturn.

Ms Tyler adds that as the economic crisis continues she is "loathe" to hire a professional tradesperson to do tasks such as putting up shelves.

"How hard can it be? Honestly, it's not that tough," she claims.

Meanwhile, DIY Week assistant editor Fiona Hodge recently advised those tackling DIY projects to make sure they know what they are doing before they start work. ADNFCR-2244-ID-19339828-ADNFCR
