Sizeable garden 'boosts property values'

Sizeable garden 'boosts property values'Large gardens are a popular draw for property buyers, it has been suggested.

Indeed, an article in the Times points out that homes which come with sizeable green spaces are the most sought-after among prospective property purchasers.

However, the publication points out that as such properties are among the rarest on the market, the value of these homes are significantly higher in comparison to others.

"Buyers are in a position of power and less prepared to compromise," Stuart Flint of Knight Frank states.

Mr Flint adds that a property with a half-acre plot could be up worth as much as 15 per cent compared to one with a quarter-acre plot which is otherwise identical.

As such, taking steps to improve a garden could prove to an effective project for DIY enthusiasts to work on.

Earlier this month, Blaze Stojanovski - of property developer firm Blaze & Co - told the Times that those who are looking to sell their home to a family should keep their garden simple, as people with children are likely to want something which needs little maintenance and has plenty of wide open space.
