Environmentally-friendly DIY products

Environmentally-friendly DIY productsDIY fans who want to make their home more eco-friendly may be interested in a range of new products that can limit their energy and water use.

According to Nigel's Eco Store, a family of four could reduce their water consumption by 40,000 litres each year by installing an ECO Showerdrop Meter.

The shower accessory alerts homeowners when they have used a recommended amount of water.

It also shows them how much water they are using and could save up to £180 each year on bills.

Another DIY tip from Nigel's store was to install energy efficient and energy saving light bulbs.

These can reduce electricity costs by £40 during their lifetimes and prevent up to 900 kg of CO2 emissions.

A radiator booster was also suggested for DIY homeowners to install to circulate heat around the room and make the most of the central heating.

Heatkeeper radiator panels, which can be installed behind radiators, were another DIY tip to cut heating bills and cut carbon emissions.

This comes after property expert Alex Goddard stated that insulation was the most effective way to reduce a property's carbon emissions.
