    DIY-loving Brits boost B&Q sales

DIY-loving Brits boost B&Q salesRecent increases in the number of people in the UK carrying out DIY projects has led to rising profits for home improvement store B&Q, its parent company has revealed.

According to a statement from Kingfisher, B&Q saw an overall 6.3 per cent boost in the number of sales during the third quarter of the year, while interest in its decorative products grew by close to one per cent.

In addition, the company - which also owns international hardware stores such as Brico Depot and Castorama - explained that the DIY trend seems to be becoming more popular around the world.

Group chief executive Ian Cheshire commented: "This is a strong set of results with our businesses in France, Poland and B&Q UK performing well."

Lloyds TSB Insurance recently found that more than one million British homeowners undertook a home improvement project in the year leading up to April on their own, while ten per cent did so to boost the value of their homes.
