DIYers given wet roof solution after loft insulation

DIYers given wet roof solution after loft insulationDIYers can prevent condensation forming after having their roof insulated by diverting heat into the roof space, according to an industry expert.

Jeff Howell, writing for the Telegraph, says he has been inundated with queries from concerned homeowners who are experiencing wet roof spaces following insulation.

He suggests this has become an inevitable problem as after insulation is installed, rooms below the loft will become hotter causing temperatures to drop in high-up spaces.

Mr Howell notes that "increased ventilation" is often regarded as a solution to the problem, but that "condensation will form" on occasions.

He believes the solution is "to let a bit of heat escape into the roof space, by reducing the thickness of insulation, or leaving the loft hatch ajar".

Towards the end of last year, financial solutions company Think Money urged Brits to save money by making their home's more energy efficient, with roof insulation highlighted as a top tip for slashing bills.
