DIY enthusiasts told neutral tones are 'in trend'

DIY enthusiasts told neutral tones are 'in trend'DIY Britons have been told that complementing plain shades of paint inside the home with areas of colourful tones is in vogue at present.

Speaking at The Gadget Show Live 2010, David Shepherd, brand manager at Dulux, explained that whites and cream colours are very popular at present.

Mr Shepherd claimed that in order to avoid being monotonous, DIY enthusiasts should "throw in a bit of dynamism and personality in there".

"The likes of 'raspberry diva' and 'muddy puddle' are very popular colours right now," he added.

Further to this, Mr Shepherd claimed that the combination of "really rich" and neutral colours will help open the room up, particularly when using colour on a room feature such as a chimney breast.

This follows a recent report which suggested that the economic downturn has created a new trend in the DIY world.

According to researchers at Moen, many homeowners lack the money to undertake big DIY projects and have instead opted for a more strategic approach to home design.

Indeed, Moen said that financial restrictions have meant that it has become common for homeowners to refresh individual rooms and undertake small projects one at a time.
