ETI pledges to improve home energy efficiency

ETI pledges to improve home energy efficiency DIY projects to improve home energy efficiency may become easier following a multimillion-pound investment to boost green supply chains.

The Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) has pledged a fund of £3 million to support the development of a supply chain solution for home energy efficiency.

Under the plans, some 26 million homes in the UK will benefit from improvements to "design, supply and implementation" of refurbishment and retrofitting.

David Clarke, chief executive of ETI, said: "Twenty-four per cent of today's CO2 emissions in the UK are linked to energy use in domestic properties.

"Refurbishing these houses with energy efficiency measures is key to ensuring the delivery of affordable and sustainable energy to domestic and business consumers."

Cutting down on carbon generated from homes is important for Britain to reduce its overall emissions.

The UK government has a target of reducing emissions by 34 per cent in the next ten years and by 80 per cent over the course of the next four decades.
