Norfolk's best eco-homes to be opened to public

Norfolk's best eco-homes to be opened to public Homeowners in Norfolk thinking of getting stuck into eco-friendly DIY projects are likely to get inspiration from a new open-homes programme.

Organised by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), the Green Buildings in Norfolk event will see a dozen properties located across the county open their doors to the public over the course of September.

It is hoped that by being able to see the work of some of the UK's most innovative architects, self-builders and designers, members of the public will be inspired to carry out their own DIY projects geared towards reducing their carbon emissions.

"If you are seeking solutions for your own home then look no further; these are the people who've done the research, invested their time, energy and money, and are now reaping the benefits," James Frost, the CPRE's director for Norfolk told the Norwich Evening News.

News of the event comes just days after the European Union put forward new legislation that will make it compulsory for home energy efficiency ratings to be published in all property-for-sale adverts from the start of 2012.
