    Home improvement boosts property efficiency

Home improvement boosts property efficiency Owners of a refurbished house in the village of Welwyn are opening their home to members of the public.

Tony and Pat Almond have undertaken home improvement projects to boost the energy efficiency of their property and will exhibit their work on September 11th, the St Albans and Harpenden Review reported.

According to the local newspaper, the detached house has been converted into an eco-home with the installation of new energy-saving products.

One of the new additions to the property is a solar thermal heating system.

John Alker of the UK Green Building Council told the publication: "Tony and Pat's home is a great example of what can be achieved with an older, energy intensive property to make it warmer, cheaper to run and simply a better quality of home.

"We hope their experiences and the lessons they have learnt along the way will inspire their neighbours and show the lasting benefits of eco-refurbishment."
