Homeowners urged to take care over DIY projects

Homeowners urged to take care over DIY projects It is important that DIY projects are carried out properly, as botched jobs can have a negative impact on a home's value and can even cause serious accidents.

This warning comes from the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), which said that since a home is most people's biggest financial asset, it makes sense to keep it well maintained.

The group's director of external affairs, Brian Berry, explained that a property that has been properly cared for will be worth more and will be much easier to sell in the future.

However, he stressed: "It is very important to ensure that any maintenance and improvement work is done to a high standard because a botched DIY job can be a false economy as it will lower the value of a property."

The FMB also found that over 200,000 DIY enthusiasts are admitted to hospital every year after messing up home improvements.
