    Brits given eco DIY advice

Brits given eco DIY adviceAs the winter months begin to draw in, homeowners may be interested in a number of eco DIY tips courtesy of ECOutlet.

Pointing out that the average home loses a fifth of its heat through poor ventilation and draughts, the firm urges people to take steps to prevent this from happening by tackling gaps in and around door and window frames, letterboxes, chimneys and skirting boards where air can escape.

One means this can be done is by investing in a floor filler which seals the gaps between floorboards, prevents draughts from occurring and making a room more energy-efficient.

"Draught-proofing is one of the simplest jobs homeowners can do to increase efficiency and ensure warm air stays were it's needed - in the room," the organisation states.

Speaking earlier this month, Sir Terence Conran, founder of the Conran Design Group, claimed that taking steps to improve a home's energy efficiency can save the typical household £340 every year.ADNFCR-2244-ID-19363713-ADNFCR
