DIY enthusiasts urged to consider eco-friendly bulbs

DIY enthusiasts urged to consider eco-friendly bulbsDIY Britons have been told that environmentally-friendly bulbs are becoming less expensive.

Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Sarah Lonsdale insisted that light emitting diodes (LEDs) were becoming cheaper to buy and are therefore a more attractive option for homeowners.

Ms Lonsdale added that LEDs are also becoming brighter and do not contain mercury, like compact fluorescent bulbs.

Speaking to the journalist, lighting creator Guy Dyke-Price, of London-based Cadisch GIGB, explained: "LEDs allow for more creative designs, not only for everyday illumination, but also for colour changing, wall washing and specialist effects."

Nick Medic, of RenewableUK, suggested recently that Feed-in Tariffs could stimulate a 'revolution' in green DIY improvements.

He insisted that the scheme has made it simpler for residential property owners to benefit from using wind and solar technology systems.

Through the programme, Britons are guaranteed a minimum monthly amount for the power generated using renewable sources.
