In a DIY Week article, Phil Barnden, general manager of the Woodcote Green Garden Centre and Nurseries in Wallington, revealed his store saw an increase in sales during the long weekend.
And with exotic plants being especially sought-after, Mr Barnden claims many people are now looking to restore the foliage which did survive through the winter months.
He states: "The weekend was very good for us. Saturday [Saturday 11th] was a bit disappointing because of the weather but Monday was great - really busy."
Meanwhile, Surrey-based Knights Garden Centre saw a particular rise in sales of vegetable seeds, garden chemicals and fertiliser.
Duncan Knight, manager of the firm's Chelsham and Woldingham branches, states the recent good weather has helped to drive sales, although people continue to be cautious with their spending due to the ongoing financial crisis.
A recent Co-operative Bank study showed that just under a fifth (18 per cent) of people were looking to improve their garden over the Easter weekend.
