    DIY advice for ceiling trend

DIY advice for ceiling trendDIY enthusiasts looking to add a fresh look to their homes could take inspiration from a new trend that seems to be picking up momentum in Canada.

According to the Toronto Star, tin ceilings, which are made from panels pressed onto a patterned dice and were traditionally found in 19th century American properties, have recently become very popular in the country.

They can be easily personalised as they can be painted to match the style of the room or left silver.

DIY lover Bob Johnson decided to install such a ceiling and told the publication - Canda's largest daily newspaper - about his progress.

He said that other home renovators carrying out this type of project should wear gloves as the metal can sometimes be sharp, but that ultimately it was a very smooth process.

Tin ceiling expert Brian Greer explained how his affection with the style started.

"At 12 years of age I walked into a turn-of-the-century hardware store, in St. Mary's, Ontario, looked up and saw the designed tin ceiling and fell in love with the look," he said.
