    DIY enthusiasts offered wallpaper tips

DIY enthusiasts offered wallpaper tipsDIY Britons have been warned that bubbles or blisters can spoil the look of wallpaper or emulsion-painted lining paper.

Writing for the Telegraph, DIY expert Jeff Howell explained that blisters are typically caused by a dry spot when brushing on the paste while hanging the paper.

"If the blister is at a seam then lift it using the corner of a thin-bladed filler knife, and push wallpaper paste in behind using an artist's brush," he noted.

However, to combat a blister away from the seam, Mr Powell advised making a vertical cut using a Stanley knife and pushing "paste in from both sides".

"Wait a few minutes for the paste to soak into the paper, and then use a plastic wallpaper smoother to expel the excess," he added.

Meanwhile, Jan Williams, assistant at Wallpaperdirect, claimed recently that wallpaper is still very much in fashion.
