Hull residents get to grips with DIY

Hull residents get to grips with DIYHull residents have been spending time picking up home improvement skills, it has been reported.

Staff from Chevin Housing Association were on hand to give those living in the Ings estate DIY advice on areas such as tiling.

Forming part of a Fun and Big Clean Up day organised in conjunction with the city council, residents also took the time to improve the appearance of their estate by loading rubbish skips with any unwanted items and picking up litter.

Among those getting to grips with DIY was local resident Don McKenzie, who had a go at tiling a wall.

"The event was a step in the right direction and it was good for community spirit," Mr McKenzie, who is a member of the Tenants' and Residents' Committee, points out.

However, this has not been the first community DIY project to take place in the north of England as members of a youth club in Newton-le-Willows received lessons in painting and decorating before putting their newly-acquired skills to use by giving the centre a facelift.ADNFCR-2244-ID-19311481-ADNFCR
