    Insulation 'important', Which? says

Insulation 'important', Which? saysThe importance of having a well-insulated home has been highlighted by Which? in a new report, which focuses on the cost of energy.

According to the consumer advice service, energy bills for houses that do not have sufficient insulation could see a 35 per cent rise by 2020 and leave many facing the prospect of fuel poverty.

Some 73 per cent of respondents told Which? that they would struggle to afford these increased costs, while 28 per cent are concerned that bills are currently too expensive already.

Editor of the organisation Martyn Hocking commented: "The government must take urgent action to stop bills from spiralling out of control and to help consumers make their homes more energy efficient, otherwise millions of people will be faced with crippling energy bills."

Installing insulation could not only help consumers save money, but might also keep homes warmer in the cold weather.

Halifax Home Insurance recently explained that this could reduce the risk of pipes freezing or bursting.
