World Cup could create a 'rush' to complete DIY jobs

World Cup could create a 'rush' to complete DIY jobsThe football World Cup should create a "huge rush" to finish DIY jobs before the tournament begins, it has been suggested.

According to Anna-Marie DeSouza, deputy editor of Build It magazine, homeowners are likely to be eager to spruce up their property before the event begins later this week.

Ms DeSouza said: "As the World Cup is beckoning, there will probably be a huge rush on to get jobs done and the garden ready for World Cup barbecues and celebrations, so plants, garden furniture and barbeque sales are likely to soar."

Furthermore, she claimed that with temperatures set to rise DIY enthusiasts are likely to catch up on any home improvements that have "fallen to the wayside".

Meanwhile, Professor Geoff Beattie, head of school and dean of psychological sciences at Manchester University, recently claimed that conducting DIY projects in the outdoors could make Britons more positive and reduce stress.

Indeed, Professor Beattie said that a quarter of Britons are putting their wellbeing at risk by not spending enough time in green environments.
