Homebase launches new home buyer offer

Homebase DIY logoDIY retailer Homebase has launched a brand new scheme designed to help home buyers furnish their homes and possibly offset additional moving-in costs.

In the current economic climate many home buyers are finding that they need a much bigger deposit than before the credit crunch set in. This often results in the buyer having less money to equip and furnish their new home.

Working with developers, the Homebase initiative provides new homebuyers money in the form of a Furniture Card, which allows them to shop in the Homebase of their choice. The scheme works by allocating a proportion of the purchase price of the property to the card, giving the homeowner the cash value to spend.

Gordon McLaren, national sales manager for Homebase said: "This scheme offers the buyer complete flexibility and control. A one-size-fits-all scheme doesn't work for many buyers. If they already have a bed then they can spend on a sofa instead and if they prefer curtains to blinds then they can select any from the wide range of household goods that Homebase sells."

Veridian Homes is the first developer to provide the Furniture Card to home buyers on their new eco home development on Anglesey. Future developments are planned for Devon and Cornwall where Veridian will link up with Homebase stores in the West Country.
