Poor quality DIY 'will put off property purchasers'

Poor quality DIY 'will put off property purchasers'Homeowners looking to carry out DIY in order to boost the attractiveness of their property to would-be buyers are being advised to keep quality in mind.

Writing in the Times, Anne Ashworth points out that as the housing market begins to pick up those Britons looking to sell their home need to be aware that buyers "are fearsomely well-informed about conditions in their local markets".

And although home improvements can help to make a property stand out, she claims such work needs to be done to a high standard otherwise purchasers may be put off a home.

Indeed, a poorly executed DIY project is something that "new buyers will not tolerate".

Meanwhile, those looking to improve their kitchen were advised that opting for a heavily-personalised decor could end up pushing would-be buyers away.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph last month, Lucy Martin, design director for John Cullen Lighting, urged those improving their kitchen to consider how such a room will be lit.ADNFCR-2244-ID-19346653-ADNFCR
