Redecorating 'offers major return on investment'

Redecorating Offers Return On Investment - lets-do-diy.comBritons considering carrying home improvements with the specific intention of boosting the overall value of their property may want to lend thought to picking up paintbrushes and wallpaper, as new research shows doing so can offer a major return on investment.

Indeed, research by Halifax shows that the average cost of a DIY decorating project stands at £989.

However, the completion of such work is perceived to boost the value of a property by an average of £2,231, a return of 226 per cent.

According to the financial services firm's valuers, redecorating can be "great value for money" in terms of improving a home's marketability, with opting for neutral colours proving to be particularly effective.

"It is important not to go overboard with whacky ideas that may limit your target market and to keep your costs in check," Halifax points outs.

However, Kate Watson-Smyth indicated in a recent Independent article that bright colours are proving to be a particularly popular interior design choice.
