If you want to create a straight line on a surface over long distances then a chalk line is ideal. Sometimes using a straightedge can take longer or you might not be able to find a straightedge long enough. A chalk line consists of a piece of stretched out string covered in coloured chalk. When the string is pulled and released it will leave a straight line.
