Homeowners who are looking to transform their property may want to add a splash of colour, an interior design specialist has said.
Vinny Lee, an author and TV presenter, explained that using colour creatively is a DIY project that can bring light and warmth to a room.
She added that different colour combinations could bring "welcome focus" to areas.
Ms Lee, who has written several books on interior design, will be releasing her next offering in February.
Called In The Colourful Home, it explains principles of colour theory to DIYers and gives tips for which colours to place together.
It also helps DIY novices decide how to introduce colour to their floors, walls, furnishing and fabrics.
Ms Lee won the Newspaper and Supplements Stylist of the Year Award in 2001 and has also written about kitchen designs, recycling spaces, bathrooms and creating innovative interiors.
According to Xomba, the Color Marketing Group has said that this year’s fashionable colours for the home are neutral walls that have bright colour features.
