Brits may want to take more time improving their DIY skills to avoid the dog house if new research is anything to go by.
According to a survey carried out for esure home insurance, UK couples spend approximately 40 minutes a day arguing about household chores, with DIY being a particular bugbear for partners across the country.
Figures showed that 28 per cent of respondents believe that putting off home improvement projects is a major factor for niggles, while a further six per cent stated that shoddy DIY causes disputes in their home.
In addition, not fixing broken household items annoyed 17 per cent of partners.
Other popular triggers for arguments included leaving the toilet seat up, doing the washing up and not making the bed.
Screwfix recently found that 43 per cent of British males believe themselves to be good at home improvement projects, despite 48 per cent not even owning a toolbox.
