Keeping an eye out for some bargains and choosing specific colours are easy ways that individuals could brighten up their properties when carrying out DIY tasks, it has been suggested.
Gwyneth Paltrow recently had a two-bedroom apartment in Nashville done up, with improvements particularly carried out in the kitchen and bathroom.
Annette Joseph, the interior designer responsible for the finished product, highlighted on the blog of the Hollywood actress, some of her tips when carrying out the project.
She highlighted that choosing floor samples and heading to markets may prove a wise idea, as well as the striking effects given by bright colours.
"The bathtub was a floor sample I found in a lighting store. Watch out for floor samples – as long as they’re in good condition, they’re often great deals," Ms Joseph stated.
"The kitchen lights were a flea market find. The fuchsia paint was an affordable dramatic design idea, it was a welcome surprise at the entry to the master bedroom."
