Coming as many Britons opt to do up their existing homes rather than attempt to move in an uncertain market, interest in alternative interior design schemes is picking up.
According to the California Company, focusing on the windows can often be the best way of transforming a home, with the firm pointing to the potential benefits of fitting shutters.
Operations manager Sam Tamlyn explained that, by following the Mediterranean example adding bespoke wooden shutters, a homeowner can control the amount of light that enters a property as well as the temperature level.
He added: "When buying hard wood products, I'd advise always to look for the distinctive Forest Stewardship Council – this means that the wood has not damaged the environment."
These latest DIY tips come soon after a piece in the Telegraph revealed that demand for vivid paint colours is on the rise across the UK as Britons become more adventurous in the field of interior design.
