DIY help has been offered by Big Brother winner Craig Phillips on how to get the most out of a home improvement project.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the personality – who has vast experience in building and engineering – suggested making renovation more fun and less time-consuming by getting friends round to the house to help out, or even hosting painting parties.
He explained that being too ambitious could be disastrous, so it is best to avoid carrying out major structural work like taking out walls without seeking professional advice.
Finally, he stated that it is important to know your limits and do some "research into what it is that you want to do, taking it step by step – that is the best way. People will then find that it becomes addictive and you’re doing more than you thought".
Craig Phillips set up his own building company after a bricklaying apprenticeship and becoming qualified in civil engineering and advanced brickwork. He went on to be the first winner of reality TV series Big Brother.
