Those Brits planning on tackling a DIY decorating project should look to use bright and colourful shades, it has been claimed.
Although dark colours may have been in trend among fashion designers earlier this year, Kate Watson-Smyth writes in the Independent, that since first lady Michelle Obama began wearing simple colours this has all changed.
Stating that “where the catwalk leads, the interior designer soon follows”, she states it is time for people to say “hello to bright confident, sometimes clashing, blocks of colour” when it comes to decorating.
Those keen on DIY may be interested to hear her advice that a plain hallway could be revitalised by painting the stairs in either a darkened or lightened shade of a homeowners’ favourite colour.
Home improvement enthusiasts may also want to opt for wide stripes while decorating.
People looking to pick up a paintbrush this year while setting up a home office were recently advised by Enterprise Nation founder Emma Jones in a blog for the Independent to decorate this room with soft shades of green and blue.
