Homeowners are looking to invest more time and money into their gardens, it has been suggested.
As the economic crisis rumbles on, a Times article reveals Britons have been splashing the cash on products such as outdoor lighting, bird houses and garden furniture "in an effort to make the most of their ‘staycation’".
And in doing so, the publication states they are increasingly looking to personalise their green space, while DIY enthusiasts may be interested to hear that setting up projector screens in gardens for some al fresco film watching is becoming ever more popular.
"Outdoor space, whatever the size, is now seen as an extension of the home and a space that reflects personal taste, while being a haven for relaxation, entertainment and enjoyment," Isabelle Palmer, founder of The Balcony Gardener, points out.
However, getting to grips with gardening improvements can bring financial as well as aesthetic benefits as recent research by Halifax revealed that such home improvements can increase a property’s value by an average of around £1,400.
