£1,000 per household up for grabs for the first British street where every house installs renewable energy systems and claims clean energy cashback.
Ownergy, the full service provider of renewable energy systems, today launched a competition for the first street in England, Scotland or Wales where every house installs renewable energy systems and earns money from the Feed-In Tariffs and Renewable Heat Incentive – the Clean Energy Cashback scheme. Ownergy will give a cash prize of £1,000 per household to every homeowner in a street of ten or more properties where each home is fitted with a renewable energy system that can claim either of the tariffs.
The competition is being launched ahead of the Feed-In Tariffs going live on April 1st this year. These tariffs will pay homeowners a guaranteed amount for the electricity they generate with the average household expected to be £950 per annum better off. This tax free income will stimulate investment in renewable energy systems. In April next year, this will be joined by the Renewable Heat Incentive paying people for the renewable heat they generate.
Launching the competition, Philip Wolfe, Managing Director of Ownergy, said: “This competition encourages people to start installing renewable energy systems in their homes. The Feed-In Tariffs and Renewable Heat Incentive can turn energy from a liability to an asset, with ordinary people earning money from the energy they generate. By giving £1,000 per household to the first British street that installs renewable energy systems in every property, we are adding an extra year’s income to what they will earn through the Feed-In Tariffs when they go live on April 1st. It really never has been a better time to invest in renewable energy systems.”
Ownergy is launching the competition ahead of the Ideal Home Show in Earl’s Court where it will be exhibiting when the Tariffs go live on 1st April.
