People are bringing a splash of colour into their home improvement projects, a television presenter points out.
Julia Kendell, interior designer on the BBC’s DIY SOS, claims that bright tones and shades are increasingly being incorporated into homeowners’ painting and decorating schemes in an effort to make their properties feel more homely.
"People are going to start using a lot more colour again; because we’ve been pretty miserable, we’re seeing a lot more colour and a lot more comfort to people’s homes," she states, adding the trend for minimal greys is now over.
Similar comments were echoed by Kate Watson-Smyth in the Independent earlier this year who claimed that bright confident blocks of colour are a popular interior design trend.
It also appears that homeowners are also taking the DIY approach towards furniture, as Ms Kendell states good-quality old items are being renovated and recycled.
"People are a bit fed up with flat-pack now," she claims.
