A fault has been identified with one of IKEA’s furniture products, the KVIBY chest of drawers. This follows complaints from customers that the glass drawer knobs can break either during assembly or in use, causing injury. IKEA advises customers who have bought the KVIBY chest of drawers to contact the Exchanges and Returns Department of their local store or the Customer Services team on 0845 358 3364, who will arrange for a repair kit to be posted to them, free of charge.
It appears the draw knobs can break if the screw fitting used to fix the drawer knob to the drawer is over tightened. The free repair kit comprises of six new drawer knobs and fixing screws.
The fault only affects the KVIBY chest of drawers carrying the date stamp 0817 or earlier. The date stamp appears on a label attached to the underside of the chest of drawers and relates to the year (08) and the week (17). All KVIBY chests of drawers with a date stamp 0818 or later are supplied with the improved fittings.
IKEA has apologised for any inconvenience this may cause its customers.
For more information, please contact the Exchange & Returns department of your local IKEA store or call the Customer Service team on 0845 358 3364.
