An increasing number of DIY Britons are opting for vibrant colours over muted shades and neutral tones, it has been suggested.
Writing for the Independent, Emily Jenkinson revealed that she is eager to decorate in a way that shows off her personality, which means she intends to paint her floorboards, hang bright tiles and splash bold shades on the walls of her new apartment.
Ms Jenkinson insisted that many of the new products on the UK market are following this trend.
This view was supported by Kim Dohn, designer and managing director of 96% Danish, who attributed the move toward "bolder, brighter home decor … to people not being able to afford to move".
Meanwhile, Jan Williams, assistant at Wallpaperdirect, claimed recently that wallpaper is still very much in fashion.
Metallic wallpaper is a key trend this year, she said, before adding that flock has also made a "huge comeback in the last 18 months".
