In news that is likely to interest DIY enthusiasts, an expert has insisted that wallpaper is still very much in fashion.
Jan Williams, assistant at Wallpaperdirect, claims that metallic wallpaper is a key trend this year while "flock has made a huge comeback in the last 18 months".
According to Ms Williams, lots of wallpaper firms are taking traditional designs and reinventing them – giving them a "modern twist".
As regards colour, she stated that limes, lilacs, purples and shocking pinks are all especially popular at the moment.
"There are a lot of shocking pinks around," Ms Williams said. "Lilacs, purples any colour is available now in most of the patterns and designs."
This follows a plea made recently by Anna-Marie DeSouza, deputy editor at Build It magazine, for Britons to focus on "keeping things natural, low key and sophisticated" this summer.
Interior designers are "big on white walls and statement pieces, coupled with clean lines in the kitchen and bathroom", Ms DeSouza said.
