Those looking to get stuck into DIY projects this bank holiday have been reminded of the need to be prepared.
With many Britons set to tackle home improvements over the course of the three-day weekend, DIY Week assistant editor Fiona Hodge urges people to ensure they know what they are doing before picking up tools.
Indeed, she claims that bank holidays often see an increase in the number of DIY disaster-related accidents as people do not quite comprehend the magnitude of the project they have attempted to take on until it is too late.
Ms Hodge claims: "Know your limits and make sure you are prepared for the job you are doing."
Such DIY advice comes as research recently published by FindaProperty.com indicated that one in five people are planning on carrying out home improvements this bank holiday weekend, with painting and decorating the most popular tasks.
A quarter will look to fit a bathroom, while 68 per cent are to attempt electrical wiring.
