The start of summer heralds the season of gardening and outdoor DIY home improvements, issaquahpress.com reports.
However, homeowners have been warned of some of the safety precautions they should take before undertaking DIY work in their backyard.
Indeed, in a bid to ensure the safety of DIY enthusiasts, the website advises homeowners to "avoid potential hazards associated with striking or digging up underground utilities".
"Place new trees away from overhead power lines," the site said. "Do not build playhouses or platforms in trees with nearby power lines."
Meanwhile, Francesca Gamble, a DIY and home improvement expert, claimed recently that women are taking more of an active role in doing DIY projects.
According to Ms Gamble, women’s desire to carry out DIY projects reflects the trend of them becoming more dominant in all areas of society.
"Women are taking more responsibility and learning new skills themselves," she explained.
