In news that is likely to interest DIY enthusiasts, an interior designer has claimed that lighting effects can radically alter the appearance of a kitchen.
According to Shane Inman, president of US interior design firm the Inman Company, lighting is the most important element when it comes to remodelling a home.
Writing for Traverse City Business News, Mr Inman recommended that in a dark kitchen with small windows or no windows at all, under-cabinet and in-cabinet lighting should be used to emphasise work surfaces.
He added: "Place lights close to walls and get a scalloping effect on the wall, or place lighting away from walls and get a glowing effect."
Furthermore, Mr Inman insisted that having effective storage solutions is a sure-fire way of calming "household chaos".
Meanwhile, DIY expert Andrew Bernard insisted recently that Britons shouldn’t be scared of getting stuck in to a DIY project.
