DIYers are taking more time to personalise their property in increasingly "inventive" ways, it has been revealed by House Beautiful magazine.
Figures from Aspect Maintenance recently showed 70 per cent of Brits living in London are planning on improving their home in the next 12 months.
And this could well be a nationwide trend in 2010, according to House Beautiful magazine’s editor Julia Goodwin.
She commented that people are currently less likely to want to move house due to the recession, which has led to them making more effort improving their property.
Ms Goodwin went on to reveal a number of styles that she expected to maintain their popularity throughout 2010.
"There is a huge trend towards retro 50s and 60s inspired shapes – chunky coloured vases that look like you’ve picked them up in a retro market," she said.
She added there is set to be "much more [of a] mix and match approach" next year.
