Investing in a spot of DIY could be the difference between a property staying on the market and being sold, one expert has suggested.
With house sales across the UK continuing to slow down as would-be buyers remain wary of making a commitment in such a climate of economic uncertainty, TV personality George Clarke has advised prospective sellers to do whatever it takes to make their homes stand out from the crowd.
The presenter of Channel 4's Restoration Man advised sellers to ensure that they create a good first impression for would-be buyers by clearing away clutter and tidying up both the interior and exterior of a home.
Writing in the Mirror, he highlighted the potential benefits of DIY kitchen upgrades, with bespoke doors, units and accessories likely to give the room the wow factor.
"The kitchen is the heart of the home and making it inviting and practical will pay off," he noted.
Meanwhile, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors recently reported that a majority of its members have seen average house prices across the UK starting to fall again.
