An increasing number of keen DIYers are undertaking home improvement schemes, according to UK Bathrooms, which saw a record month for sales during October.
Three times more orders were registered with the online retailer last month compared to the same time in 2008 and the company believes the surge may be due to homeowners trying to avoid negative equity.
In addition, the retailer suggested to DIY lovers a number of reasons why giving their bathrooms makeovers would be a good idea.
Renovating the bathroom now, it said, might be timely in the run-up to the festive season if family are visiting for Christmas. In addition, it is a great way of adding value to a property for those considering selling their houses.
IQ Living recently recommended that homeowners save themselves money by carrying out simple repair tasks in the bathroom, rather than spending a lot on replacing items or calling out a specialist.
