Although DIY mistakes can occasionally happen, one homeowner in Wales has said that she has been encouraged to continue by the successes.
Writing for WalesOnline, Abbie Wightwick told of how her partner broke a hot water pipe while moving a radiator during the task of decorating one of the couple’s rooms.
But instead of reaching for the phone book to get the number of an emergency plumber, the pair battled on to eventually sort the problem – and found a new desire to finish the job.
"Hardcore DIY is not recommended for rank amateurs late in the evening, but we’ve been spurred on by success with a wallpaper stripper," she told the news provider.
"Easing off paper with gusto, I was impressed by the steaming which doubled up as a skin cleanser, turning the job into a DIY-spa experience," the writer joked.
Michelle Beschen, writing for Scripps Howard News Service, recently claimed that DIYers should aim to be resourceful and re-use materials during big projects.
