DIY enthusiasts have been advised that the addition of wood decking is one of the best home improvement projects for enhancing property value, according to an expert.
Luke Mullins, writing for US News & Report, says that DIYers and other homeowners must look favourably upon home improvement projects where any "costs … are likely to be recouped at resale".
Mr Mullins suggests that DIYers who add wood decking to their properties could be making a savvy home improvement move.
He quotes the thoughts of Celia Kuperszmid Lehrman – deputy home editor at Consumer Reports – who notes that wood decking may appeal to "thrift-conscious" buyers "looking to save money by spending more time at home".
Installing an attic bedroom and taking the energy-efficient step of replacing wood windows are other DIY projects that, according to Mr Mullins, can enhance property values.
DIYers looking to save money on project ideas can currently redeem a voucher to claim a 15 per cent discount in store at B&Q with the deal set to end on Saturday (January 30th).
