Homeowners hoping to undertake a new year’s DIY project and are looking for advice on how best to renovate their properties have been encouraged to redecorate in grey.
According to Julia Goodwin, editor of House Beautiful magazine, the use of a "light, pretty shade" of the colour on people’s walls has become very popular in recent months and the trend is set to continue throughout 2010.
She explained that grey is the new neutral colour for homes, taking the place of cream.
In addition, she commented on a number of popular colours that homeowners can team up with grey in their DIY projects.
"There are some very citrusy, zingy colours going around – greens, bright limes, olive, citrus yellow. All those colours look great with a grey backdrop," she said.
It was revealed in last year’s Halifax Home Improvement Survey that redecorating is Britain’s favourite DIY scheme, with 64 per cent of renovators choosing to do so with a few licks of paint or some new wallpaper.
