Rightmove.co.uk, the UK’s number one property website has poured cold water on a house price recovery in 2011, predicting that this year will see another 5% fall.
Miles Shipside of Rightmove explained that, “sellers are going to have to price more competitively in 2011.”
It’s likely that the continuing uncertainty in the market will see fewer housing transactions – which will, according to Key Note research, lead to “interest in DIY increasing amongst those who wish to improve their existing home”.
Tony Blue of lets-do-diy.com believes the trend makes sense. “Home improvements can add real value and greatly increase the chances of selling your property. Even if you don’t have your house on the market, a successfully completed project can often improve the quality of life.”
