Those looking to attract prospective purchasers to their property should focus on kerb-side appeal, a number of property experts suggest.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Property Ladder presenter Sarah Beeny points out that the impression people have when they first approach a home can have a significant impact on whether or not they choose to buy it.
Indeed, she claims that "a bad appearance can cause a lot of damage", although DIY enthusiasts may be interested to hear her claims that taking steps to rectify this is not an arduous task.
"If you can get someone in a positive frame of mind before they’ve stepped through the front door it can help sell to it," she states.
To boost the exterior look of a home, Lindsey Cuthill of Savills points out that a front garden must be "well-presented" and for doors to be painted well.
Speaking last month, Andrew Leech, director of the National Home Improvement Council, claimed that ensuring the outside of a home is well-presented is "crucial".
