Those wanting to add a personal touch to their homes over the Christmas holidays should try making some DIY decorations, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Homeowners have been encouraged by the publication to make their own fobbies, which are small decorative cards that are often added to presents but can also be hung up around the house.
Producing these items simply require a bit of ribbon threaded through the card of choice.
Additionally, DIYers struggling for inspiration were advised to get their hands on Teresa Evelegh’s Home-Made Christmas: With 35 Beautiful and Easy-To-Make Projects.
Ideas offered in the book include setting up the table for the festive feast in different ways and how to make adornments such as baubles, lanterns and stars for the tree.
Megan Player, writing for This Is Devon, recently suggested taking a lino printing course to learn how to make Christmas cards and other decorations that can help the home sparkle over the yuletide period.
After all, a DIY Christmas can "be enormously pleasurable and quite relaxing", she said.
