Now is an ideal time to be carrying out DIY in order to improve the security features of a home, it has been suggested.
Research by Saga reveals that June 6th – which takes place this coming Saturday – is the one day of the year where the homes of Britons over the age of 50 are burgled the most.
This, the firm claims, is partially because many older people choose to go away on holiday during the month and spend more time outdoors.
Andrew Goodsell, executive chairman of the Saga Group, asserts: “If people are going away for a fortnight or just popping out for the evening, they should always check their property is as safe and secure as possible.”
Mr Goodsell goes on to claim there are a “few simple steps” people could take to deter the threat of opportunistic thieves.
